Health a Priority

Here at Upsall we continue to strive to produce quality high performance and with excellent health.

We are members of the Premium Cattle Health Scheme (PCHS) and this means we are in a controlled health scheme for BVD, IBR, Lepto and Johne's and we achieved accredited status for BVD in 2009. We plan to eradicate Johne's and IBR.

The SAC Premium Health Scheme is organised and supervised by the veterinary service of the Scottish Agricultural College in partnership with practising surgeons.

The herd is vaccinated and routinely bloodtested every year for BVD, Lepto, and IBR. We use a marker vaccine for IBR.

Johne's Disease

The Herd is monitored and all 2 year old cattle are bloodtested. We are in a 4 year testing area for TB and the last test was January 18 2010.
