The Upsall Herd

Now numbering 80 Cows the Upsall Herd was established in 1909.

Bulls are treated commercially and weight recorded with Breedplan.

Females are calved at 2 years of age and are bred to calve unassisted

We aim to breed strong, active bulls ready to go on and work on commercial suckler herds on terrain ranging from lowground to the high hills.

We started the polled herd in 1960 and the herd is now 90% polled. Dehorning is an extra chore, using a polled bull reduces the risk of needing to dehorn.
